This is a question for anyone who has used drawquest using an iPad 2 and then switched to an iPad 3 or 4 with the mythical Retina thingamajiggy.
Does it make a difference? Does the art look crisper? Does it do breakfast for you? Will it increase your dancing prowess?
I want to know if I should give myself a new iPad for Christmas.

Ithe ipad three is a world of difference Chaser. Please ask Santa for this awesome gift. You've been good all year. You deserve it. Art and everything else looks like the difference in old Tv's versus digital hd and plasma Tv's.

The mayor advantage of retina display is, beyond the crisp high image quality, that apps that rely on screen resolution for canvas (drawquest, paper, sketches...) have bigger canvas resolution. That said, drawings made on drawquest are less pixelated on lines and more detailed, at least on screen. Also, drawings on paper or sketches export a bigger resolution and allow bigger detail. Also, apps that allow magnification has better amplified image, as pixels are smaller and allow better magnification.
Apart from that, system is faster and snapier. Also, on pro drawing apps, it allow bigger canvas size and more layers per drawing as ram memory is bigger. That count too on photo processing apps, which are faster.
Another good thing (for tech savvy ones) is that last ipad with retina display is sRGB certified, so it grants a very good color matching. I repeat, this is for those ones who care about this.I work with iPad 2 and plan to upgrade when possible, even being absolutely happy with my actual device., but for a pro point of view, it worth it.
