I've tried zooming in but it doesn't seem to work. All I'm getting are unwanted lines. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks UFO and Leo for this great tip!!
I have to say.. the Zoom feature is not easy to use. I find sometimes when I used a black color while zooming and later discovered that I was drawing in red color. Definitely this is a bug.
Another advice: When I'm drawing something with the zoom feature. I try not to put my finger or the stylus near the edge of the display. It will pan to one side of the screen image.

Thanks UFO. I used it for first time. But not gonna abuse of it. Is very useful to outline things. By the way. When I three finger click to zoom, a dot is drew in the screen. A bit annoying. Is it only me or this happens to any of you?

Yeah, the dots happen when you don't place all three fingers on the screen at exactly the same time... so more often than not. So I usually try to only zoom when I have a nice solid colored area within screen view that I can tap on without fear of dotting it up too much. Quick Tip: Also, for quick zoom in zoom outs, once you have established your 'magnification distance' by triple touching and sliding your fingers... you can 'quick zoom' from that distance to all the way zoomed out by double tapping 3 fingers on the screen. One double tap and it zooms you up, a second double tap and it zooms you back out. This is convenient for switching colors or brushes quickly.

Have a question...more an Ipad question than DQ question. I know how to zoom in with the three finger trick but lately my zoom doesn't zoom like it used to. It used to allow this finger painter to get in close, but now it only goes in like one percent. Help!!!!Anyone know whats going on? Or how to fix it?

The three finger double tap gesture zooms between the normal level and your previously set zoom level. You have accidentally set that to be very small. You need to double tap with the three fingers, then hold and slide your fingers up to increase the zoom level. It's a bit tricky, so you might have to try a few times. Basically, tap once, then quickly tap again, don't lift your fingers, and slide them up the screen instead.
After that you can go back to the normal double tapping.

Also, note that this work on the ipad regardless of the app that is running (not only DQ). So you can test/set the zoom level outside of DQ if you want.

It's a good tip, but don't you lose context if you're zoomed in?
I get lost easily in zoomed-in mode with drawing apps. What I really want is being able to zoom out, so I can concentrate on the design, without the details distracting my attention. If my design is strong, the details don't matter that much anymore, certainly not on a casual drawing app like DrawQuest. On the Desktop, the better drawing apps have both, like Easy Paint Tool SAI.

This is such an awesome tip, especially for lettering. I also love it when access created for people with disabilities becomes access for everyone, something everyone can find useful and helpful.
