Agreed, agreed, but don't get in a tizzy about Explore. Remember it's only a machine with major faults, indeed the whole concept is flawed and should either be totally overhauled or disappear entirely. Just continue doing what you're all good at DRAW DRAW DRAW and forget about Explore.

Today I felt Explore had picked a wrong picture from ME. Instead of using the necklace picture from yesterday's quest, it chose a page from my multi-picture slochidna baby epic. One from the middle, too. The story can be difficult to follow due to the reverse chronological order as it is, and a disconnected scene from the middle can lead to many eyebrows being raised in confusion. And I was feeling fairly proud of the necklace picture, too...
Oh well. Should be happy to have been picked at all, but since its introduction, there has been only one day when Explore DIDN'T pick me, so I may have come to expect it a bit too much. It's a good reminder that nothing should be taken for granted...

Sloth dude, I follow your drawings, at least the best I can, I agree seeing them out of order would make it very difficult to understand whats going on.
I can relate to your concerns about inclusion in the daily Gallery. My drawings were there the first three days. I thought, boy this is easy, but then reality set in and I haven't had a drawing included since. I evidently have upset the algorithm gods and have been put on the bench for the foreseeable future. I try to tell myself it doesn't matter, that I do the drawings for me not for recognition.
So why do I still look everyday to see if I made the cut!

I actually considered drawing them back to front to make it easier to follow the story in my gallery, but eventually decided against it. If we ever get an option to sort the gallery in chronological order or view the images on a timeline, the flow would be reversed there. For better or worse, the default order is newest first, and I hope people will figure it all out.

Corky, I know how you feel but don't take Explore too seriously or even not at all. I was picked twice by "the gods" but not since. I started to think their was something wrong with my drawings and I looked every day also. Since then a lot of the drawings are mediocre at best except for those artists who are chosen everyday. The chosen few are excellent artists. But a lot of great artists and great drawings are left out daily but like Deedee said, , " it's just a machine". So how can any of us take it seriously. Machines don't measure our self-worth in the drawing world or any other for that matter. Art and beauty is in the eye of the beholder and my eye says that your drawings as well as others that don't make the explore page are beautiful! Forget explore. I have and I don't look for my drawings anymore cuz I don't care and I know what's good through my own eyes. So do the rest of the great artists and drawers in this community.

I think i might have cracked the code I think it's based on stars (15-30) stars gets in and the (100+) stars get in all of us in between get left out.. Just a theory.

You guys shouldn't worry about this Explore thing at all! You are amazing artists and have hundreds of followers to prove that. First I was a bit sad that my drawings were not featured and that "follow me I follow back" stuff was, but I eventually realized that this whole Explore thing was a bit messed up.. But hey! You put my drawing at the top of this website, I guess having other artists' support means more than this logarithm And by the way Slothdude, the order of your drawings was pretty easy to understand, at least for me!

Slbturknett. Interesting theory. I usually have 40 to 80 stars by the time the Gallery is chosen. So that may very well be it. Or it could be that I went way outside the box on my last Gallery inclusion a somewhat risqué depiction of Candy Barr (1950 era exotic dancer) rather than drawing a Snickers bar as my favorite candy. I just figured I got put on the "bad" list and would have to learn to deal with it.
On a different tack, I wonder what type of star return everyone gets. I know my stars seem to fluctuate dependent upon how much time I put into the drawing. Not always how good the drawing is technically. With 300 plus followers I seem to get about a 20% star rate. So it stands to reason if you have thousands of followers then 100's of stars should follow.
Having a drawing in the gallery does increase the number of stars and followers you get so it becomes a self inflating balloon at some point!

The last few days I trend between 60-80 stars almost every drawing I have about 300 followers at this point.

I didn't realise being on Explore would be such a burden. And here's me thinking I'd have to break into the DQ supervault and modify their algorithm just to get a look in. Swap places anyone, anyone?

I don't want it to go away. I just want a better system for picking. I can handle excellent drawings being left off in place of one with promise from a child (not that MEANGeri really cares about the children). But to have spaces taken by people asking for followers just really put me off it. I know lots of us have done drawings worthy of being showcased and haven't made it. Maybe we need to create a page here to elect excellent pictures. Only one submission per person per day or something.

I believe it may be time to throw in the towel! Rubahduk's drawing done with his foot made the gallery! (Although I have to admit it was very good.)

I went to the doctor yesterday with a rash and a sore index finger.
The doctor diagnosed RSI (repetitive strain injury) for the finger but couldn't get a handle on the green rash. Oh! did I forget to mention the rash was green? Yeah! Green.
Anyway, she asked me to describe my day. She stopped my monolog after a couple of minutes and was able tie both conditions to the same source. Explore envy.
It seems going through the first 600 pages of Explore each morning looking for my previous day's drawing explains the RSI and, not finding it, explains the green rash - she called it an envy rash. The doctor then suggested one way to cure both conditions was to give up DrawQuest and find interest in a new program.
I responded it would be easier to find a new doctor.
So we compromised.
I am now only to look at page one of Explore. If my drawing does not appear I am to close my eyes and think warm friendly thoughts for the people who have a drawing on that page. Now, if my drawing appears, I am to sit quietly, calmly ring a nominated heart specialist and ask her to meet me at the hospital and then ring an ambulance to get me there.
She expects the rash and RSI to clear up in a week.
I feel so much better already.

I like the explore section because it allows me to discover artist that I may not have otherwise seen their work. Basically I think Explore is a some what random process of selection daily. There may be certain artist that are viewed more than others because of some sort of computer programming because of their work but then it moves on to random selecting a certain number of whatever is in the gallery chosen. Computers are pretty smart so possibly it has some sort of skill recognition it realizes then selects. Surely DQ does not have the staff to view every single picture.
