Can anyone describe what is the content of the new update that DQ has just released? it seems major.
What are the good and the bad things about it? Is it buggy? Is it worth upgrading now or should I wait?

The promo for it looks good but I am excluded from upgrading as I haven't installed IOS7 and to be honest, with an iPad 2, I'm a little frightened to.
My child bride, MissAnne has an iPad mini and she upgraded to IOS7 and is yet to be convinced it is better than sliced bread. Anyway, she upgraded to the new version of DrawQuest - she can get in but can't log in. She has forgotten her password. She sent a password request off twice this morning but the DrawQuest mail server still hasn't responded 5 hours later. Maybe the DQ staff had a big night last night.
When she gets into the program it allows her to draw using the pencil and highliter tools and erase with the eraser but the paintbrush tool and the new background filler tools have a lock on them. Touching them requires a log in. grrrr!!!
More feedback, if she every gets back in
cheers

I am not happy with the new update. Had I known or had the choice I would not have updated. The activity board and drawing areas are smaller. Everything looks washed out to me. The zoom feature may be fine but I have yet to use it. Everything has been reformatted smaller to fit on an iPhone screen and it just looks weird to me I don't know how anyone can draw on an iPhone screen anyway. If I had a choice I would wish no upgrade on my ipad. And the current upgrade for iPhone and iPod users only.

wilso took some "fear" tablets and upgraded the old iPad 2 to IOS 7.04. More on the reaction to IOS 7 on another platform - maybe. I then upgraded DrawQuest to the new version. There is a new color palette (4 colors) which you can buy with your DQ coins. There is also the new "Patty the Paint Can" tool which can color the whole canvas. But you have to buy it for 99c. You can't use your DQ coins. If you are a total idiot you can still buy coins in the Shop with real money ie 50 DQ coins for 99c but you cannot use the coins to buy Patty. What a rip off!!! I'm hoping it is a mistake - why have coins, why can you still buy coins, if you can't use them for ALL the stuff in the shop?
A good feature is color selection. Instead of scrolling the color wheel you tap a colored circle (corresponding to the currently selected color) found next to the erase tool and you get a pop-up color palette - tapping a color selects it and puts the pop-up away. Color selection is so much quicker than spinning that rotten wheel - how many times did I do a loop de loop because I chose the wrong direction. Anyone else get caught? Anyone?
The new zoom tool works like most other draw/paint apps using a two fingered pinch in (to zoom out) pinch out (to zoom in). Its a very good zoom too. AND if you want an ultra zoom, do the old 3 finger tap and you are drawing in a very, very small space. Love it.
Boring pastelly colors in the activity feed and general layout but blame IOS 7 for that not the DQ staff.
But I still can't work out what to so with my 2000+ DQ coins.... now, if only they were BitCoins - I could buy a small country.
Overall, thumbs up for the new features and a big thumbs down for having to buy Patty the Paint Can.
cheers

ps Heap241 if you get a chance to read this Regcas duplicated this topic in the General Board - could they be combined before it grows too big - it should be a popular topic as people do the "switch-over"

Just found another nice feature. When you are viewing a drawing with people who have starred it listed below there is the usual playback and star buttons under the right hand side of the drawing. In between these buttons is a button with an icon made up of a box with an up arrow through it. Touching it takes you to Twitter, Facebook Tumblr links, the naughty button and a camera button. The camera button takes and sends a photo of the drawing to the Photos app. The photo is larger than you get with a screen dump and has no borders/frame. Nice touch.

I agree with your likes Wilso but I still don't like the update enough. And that feature you just mentioned above was there before the update. The button with the arrow that takes you to the social apps, the camera, etc. it's been there for quite some time on my ipad. Combining this with my question is a good idea.

Hey Regcas, thanks for the camera alert. I had no idea it was in the old version and stand corrected. wilso needs to get out more.
I seem to be doing more backsliding (age and slippery slopes) - after my pity party about having to pay real money for Patty the fill can and not use my DQ coins, I took a loan from the bank and forked out the 99c. I figured Moot and his DQ minions needed some monetary reward for supplying me with so much fun over most of this year. Spend it wisely fellas. Not all in one shop either; spread the joy.
Anyway Patty is worth the money. Many is the time I wore out a finger tip erasing a DQ starter image. With Patty, you choose a color, touch the can, tap the drawing canvas and the background (and any drawing you have added to it) fades a little to the chosen color. More taps and the fading continues until there is nothing but the chosen color. Used it for today's garden quest. Disclaimer: BTW no animals were injured or killed in the extensive road testing wilso has given DQ V:3

Lamijavin
I put off moving over to IOS 7 for 2 reasons - I had seen it in action on an iPhone 4 and didn't "like" the look or the feel of it. The phone was slower, used more battery and it looked, well wrong. I assumed the same would happen with my iPad 2.
I couldn't be more wrong. I installed the latest version IOS 7 4.04 and none of my fears have been realized. The battery is fine, I love some of the new features (you don't get all of the new goodies cause the iPad 2 couldn't handle them) but what you do get works just fine. Performance wise I find no speed lag at all. So far only one app, Words with Friends is occasionally "wonky" occasionally switching from landscape to portrait layout when it should be displaying in the other. I assume I just need to download the IOS 7 version.
I'm a very happy camper.
cheers

Wilso. Thanks for your info and good marks on Patty the Paint Can. You've also convinced me to go to the Cayman Islands where I stash my millions; and take out a buck to spring for Patty's Paint. Hope it will be worthy of such extravagance. You will surely hear from me if it's not. . Love your blog !

DQ3: is it just me that has the Followers/Followings lists all mixed up? Meaning that they are no longer sorted alphabetically, making it hard for me to find someone. So I end up going to the explore to do a search...that is if remembered the name correctly. The colours being so pale, the writings are hard to read so I end relying on the name image... And sometimes using the disability 3 fingers zoom for what it is meant!

Very odd Lamijavin, some followers are all mixed up on the list, but others are not, no logic in this, try a few different ones and you'll see what I mean. Incidentally you are in a mixed up list lol

Lamijavin and Regcas and anyone else who has problems with their follower list. If you scroll down past the new followers, the list starts again in alphabetical order. It's only the new ones who are not in the correct order, hope this helps.

It's only the new ones who are not in the correct order, hope this helps. It does not seem to be working for me. There is a sorting, but only for a few, then it get mixed up again. Worse, I now notice that some of the people I follow are not shown there anymore...it is like my display list is cut short because I am following them. Example: I cannot see you Dee in my list but I am following you.

Just checked your list and then my own, you're absolutely right, your list ends after all the B names, so of course I'm not shown, but glad to know you follow me! My own list ends after all the M names anything after that is not shown. Whole thing is now a complete shambles, but some if the " following" has quietened down. Will write you soon.
