Although I only had 8 votes, most said to keep it open..
I will do this under one condition. If there is an entire one month (30 day) period where there isn't one post again, this board will close.

Sounds Good and though I am since learning how to navigate cyber space I shall try to be more active at this site.

There is a time for everything. When DrawQuest started, it was new and exciting, and fun. This forum also served an important purpose in letting the artists interact with each other and share tips about using the app. Can you remember we didn't even have the search feature or zoom back in the beginning.
However, ever since the sad news about the failure of the business and the switching over to power savings mode so to speak, DrawQuest has lost a much of its sparkle. The application is now slow, riddled with minor but annoying bugs, and quite simply, feels more like a daily chore than a source of enjoyment these days. I will still continue drawing for as long as I can and feel like it, but I fear it won't be too long until it's time to lay the app to rest. And since most of us are now on Twitter or SketchClub anyway, I think that this board has also served its purpose.
Thank you for all the fun times, the art, the stars and the joy. See you on Twitter an SC. This is Slothdude, signing off.

I agree with the Sloth. Things have changed at DQ and it's starting to become a chore. I like drawing at SC better these days since DQ is so slow and wonky of late. I hate to see that our community is dissolving or it might be that we are in two different apps and the community now seems spread out and not as connected as before. I wish we'd just all be in ine place again. About fifty percent of my peeps are still drawing on DQ and thirty per cent are on SC and the rest seem to be MIA. I can draw on one app or the other but lately I'm preferring SC cuz DQ is not what it used to be. I hand in more for my friends on DQ than for the pleasure of drawing on DQ. I wish we'd all move on over to SC at some point but the die hard DQers are here to stay. Wonkiness and all. So I guess I'll stay torn between two lovers for awhile longer. Thanks Sloth for addressing the elephant in the room.

I agree with both Slothdude and Regcas regarding D.Q. I was on holiday for 10 days and had hoped to find some improvement on my return, in reality the bugs had multiplied. My activity list has now reduced to a constant 20. This means that drawings posted overnight i.e. from the US remain invisible. Sorry people but I just don't see your drawings any more! Trying to pull up individual profiles is both slow and laborious Half the fun of DQ was following people and starring accordingly, discovering new people etc. so unless they fix this last new bug all that pleasure has gone. However, once the app is up and running it's still possible to draw, but now you are drawing for yourself and a few limited people, is this sufficient? Maybe not, but I still prefer DQ to Sketch Club. More about my thoughts on Sketch Club on another post!

Since posting my complaint here yesterday, I sent an email to DQ about the disappearing activity list. I didn't really expect a reply given the demise of staff, but they replied immediately and the bug has been fixed. Success and credit to DQ for doing this on their present tight budget. Please support them and keep on drawing on their site, they are trying!

I haven't been drawing much on DQ. I agree that it's slow, esp. on the iPad so sometimes I prefer to draw on my iPhone. I almost always use the iPhone to view my activity list and explore - way faster. Like the rest of you, I miss the earlier exchanges on this forum such as the subquest ideas; it's not the same being able to suggest quests because it lacks interaction. DQ is a sad shell of its former self. Many of my followers are also MIA as are those I'm following. I have signed up for Sketch Club, but have yet to draw anything. I just don't have the time to draw and like heap, find myself leaning towards hands-on art - right now it is creating art using felting techniques. But I'll still try to post drawings on DQ.and hopefully on SC.

Thank you IFlowerbed 2 for continuing to draw on DQ, I always look for your drawings and like your take on the quests.
I noticed that like me, you have downloaded Sketch Club, but not yet posted, I would be interested to know your initial thoughts particularly as you do craft work as well. I haven't tried felting, but do watercolours, pastels, pottery and card making all creative hands on stuff and this is probably the reason why Sketch Club holds no interest for me. The complicated array of tools that literally draw for you is fascinating from a technical point of you, but for me lacks the personal satisfaction one gets from a hands on project, or similarly the satisfaction of drawing from scratch on DQ
It might be possible to build up the Forum again, not sure how, perhaps we should do some publicity on DQ to encourage past and new people to contribute now and again. I noticed Conjeo Sheepdog posted an invitation to join earlier this week, maybe if a few of us posted something similar the message might get through. I hope so, as Heap has put in a great deal of work in keeping this board open.

Hi Deedee2277, I signed up on SC when DQ announced its future plans to close just to prepare. I checked out numerous other drawing apps and chose SC over the others, mainly because it does have a community. Most other drawing apps do not have any community. There will never be another community like there was on DQ and I have been very sad about that.
I also do lots of hands on crafts and art like you and iflowerbed2. I have made 15 scrapbooks, decoupage, paint, glue "stuff" onto wood : ) make Jewelry, paint murals on walls, refinish furniture, you name it, right? LOL so I know what you mean about SC. As a super creative person, I do better when I have less to work with. More can be overwhelming. Drawing is my favorite creative activity to do. When I came upon DQ I was amazed and have found the challenge of learning how to draw on my IPad so much fun! Before it has only been paper and pencil. Now I am hooked on using modern technology for drawing.
When DQ is totally gone and I am only left with SC to draw, I think the trick for me will be to limit myself to drawing with just a few of the tools, trying to mirror it to feel like DQ. I want to encourage you and anyone to go to SC and try it out. It's not to bad because I guess we need to come to the sad realization that DQ will be gone one day.
I wonder if we will know the exact day or will it just be gone one day?
Stayze

Good morning Stayce,
So good of you to reply and nice to know you have a clear understanding of my concerns regarding Sketch Club. Delighted to hear your a crafter too and you hit the nail on the head in your summing up " I work better with less" So true, for me it's the sense of personal satisfaction too in creating something by myself.
Drawing on an IPad is fun but as you know, so many other wonderful things to do with ones time, with the better weather arriving here in the UK I'll be out and about more and drawing less. I also like to travel and have visited most countries in the world . An IPad is a great way of making records of journeys made and highlights of interesting places. You may remember Lamijavin did this on her travels through France last year and posted them daily n DQ. I was very impressed and miss her drawings on DQ
To answer your question, I have played with Sketch Club,, but never posted, I just felt the end results, all very pretty, were not me. I took screen shots of some of them and they look like photographs , they just lack that spark of free draw. When DQ finally shuts the door I may very well do as you suggest and try only a very limited range of tools. I think Corky made that suggestion also. I have looked at the app Heap suggested, looks interesting and perhaps relates better to my style of drawing.
I am intrigued at the rapport between you and Conejo Sheepdog, I always look out for both your drawings and you never fail to make me smile, and quite often Conejo makes me think a little more deeply about political issues. Keep on drawing, keep on crafting, and thank you again for taking the time to reply Stayce.
Incidentally I'm sure Moot will let us know in good time if and when he can't run the servers any more and that will be a sad day for all of us.

I wonder if we will know the exact day or will it just be gone one day? Stayze Hi Stayze my lovely DQ friend. That picture of you is sooooo pretty. You radiate warmth with your smile. You are beautiful inside and out. When I draw on SC I usually would draw on one layer and just use the tools that are similar to DQ. You can make it just like a DQ experience almost. Now I've tried using several layers but all that does is give you a break from redoing your whole drawing if you want to change something. It all looks like it's going on one layer when you draw. It's a nice way to keep your sketches of background mid ground and foreground seperate if you want to use any of them for another drawing. Hope DeeDee won't give up on SC cause she can do this too. I do like that we can communicate on SC. That makes me feel that we won't lose touch with each other and the friends we've made that are important to us. I read that DQ will continue for another year and that's all. We now have to get Conjoesheepdog ready to move to SC. You have a year Stayze. Do it. I'll help you. We must take him with us!! Love you girlfriend. Reggie

Having looked further at Sketch Club as an alternative and having read suggestions on this board, I am still not convinced that it's the app for me.
With DQ, everyone starts off on a level playing field with 3 brushes and a limited colour palette. It's then up to the individual to use their creativity and ingenuity to make a drawing. So simple, we all start off from scratch. With Sketch Club, there's literally hundreds of colours and endless tools to do the job for you, where's the fun in that? I've looked at many of the drawings posted, some remarkable stuff, but I've also looked at the stats. and found that quite a lot of people are using as many as 30 plus tools to create these effects. I prefer to draw my own grass, trees and leaves.
Some of the drawings are from photographs and some have taken 20 hours plus. I suppose it depends on the individual, but it doesn't fill me with excitement and I would find it difficult to comment honestly on an aided drawing. For me drawing is not about comments and competition, one draws for pleasure, my first love is watercolours with pastels a close second. I get a lot of fun out of drawing with an IPad, quite challenging at times, but an IPad will never take the place of brushes, water and the joy of mixing paint and actually creating something yourself on paper.
Similarity, for me, Sketch Club with all it's sophistication will never take the place of the simple layout and limitations of DQ However long it stays up and running, however tedious it becomes to access the activity list, I'll be sticking with DQ until the servers no longer operate. Of course we all have different views, life would be dull if we all thought the same!
