Is our DQ community starting to fall apart?

I downloaded Sketch Club but have yet to post anything, why? Quite simply I don't like it!
I've played about with it and have been fascinated by the myriad of tools and the effects one can produce, miraculous detailed work, but at the end of the day it's aided drawing, maybe a lot of fun to play with but it's not your own work.
 DQ is laborious these days, but I prefer drawing on DQ, however badly, with 3 brushes and a limited colour wheel.
At the end of the day, it's your own work and there is a sense of satisfaction in that.
I don't see the point in commenting on aided creations, I don't really want to know how many brush strokes people made in creating them, and finally, I don't like the competitive  edge to Sketch Club.

For me Sketch Club is something to play with, not post, on a wet afternoon when I've nothing else to do.
I will stay with DQ until it finally collapses and in it's present state that point is rather imminent.
After that I may have a re-think about Sketch Club, but it's doubtful.

I acknowledge that we are all individuals and what works for some people just doesn't work for others.

I believe what you are feeling is true for everyone else who tried hard to stay in contact with each other for the joy of sharing our drawings. I noticed the moment it was mentioned that DrawQuest would be closing and other sites were suggested, the feeling of losing that contact with others became a concern and we became aware that the other sites did not feed that friendly family atmosphere we so much enjoyed. Those months of feeling DQ would be gone and watching new questers join, has left us feeling scattered. I draw when I can and have made some great friends around this world because of the forum. The best advise I can give to everyone, is enjoy the time we can and if one door closes, let's find another to venture in and find our friends.
I personality want to thank you for the work you do to keep this avenue of communication open.

I think it is wrong to state that Moot didn't want to keep DQ alive, or didn't care about it, or care about the DQ community.
He cared very much about DQ and the community, read his blog or download some of his interviews with the press for more insight into the man and his reasons for closure
He was devastated and disappointed when he was forced to shut DQ down. He was proud of what he had created and rightly so.

He simply had no option from a financial point of view, the people who backed his enterprise clearly wanted a return on their money. DQ was not generating income.
He tried to sell the app. before shutting down, but no one wanted to buy an app that didn't generate money.

As a relatively young person, still in his twenties he has no doubt learned from this painful experience and being of an entrepreneurial nature will doubtless think of something new.
With hindsight, a yearly subscription, a charge for brushes and colours, some related advertising might just have saved the day for him. Alas it's now too late, but I hope this clarifies a little about the man and the true reason for the demise of this very popular app.
