Post your "how to" questions for other DrawQuest users to answer. Remember, this is an unofficial forum and is not run by or connected to the official DrawQuest team, app or its employees. We're just DQ doodlers like everyone else! Happy drawing!

Hi Kettlecorn,
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards is one that I have and recommend. As for videos, youtube, etc, I don't recall anything specific but if you do a google or youtube search for free drawing tutorials, you can find some interesting stuff. Hope that helps!

Kimon Nicolaides natural way to draw, Preston Blair animation and the Animators Toolkit by Ricjard Williams are all seminal works. Toolkit is by far my favorite. YouTube sorry I'm hopeless on info on there

Thanks for the recommendations K3lli and Kercal. I 'll see if they are at the library. So far I have been drawing from pictures and memory (gasp!). I recenty ordered a book written by a Disney animator, a zentangle book and a wacom stylus. I love amazon.

I have a hard time capturing likeness when drawing people. What do you look at in a face when drawing to convey their specific look? Anybody have any suggestions?

How do you post a question in this forum? I wanted to have one post where everyone would put their Twitter names, so that it would be easy to find and add them all. Or is there one already and I just haven't found it yet?

HeartofaPoet- Per K3lli :
On iPad. If you click on general boards a list of the current topics will come up. On the upper right hand side there is a "new thread" option.

HagathaCrusty
I think it's about face shape and eyes. It's like when you see those wax statues and you know something's not quite right. Just my opinion

Thanks Dr. Cupcake. That makes sense. Off to watch some tutorials. Btw, my Tony Montana in Draw Something was done before coffee, so keep that in mind it was pretty wonky!

Good afternoon. I would like to ask how you guys control your movements while in zoom? I am glad to discover the zoom trick (thank you to UFO_Pilot). However while doodling, when my intention is to color an area, the iPad thinks I want to move to another area of the screen so it messes up what I am doing. (And it is frustrating.) Stray lines everywhere, a shaded area I didn't even want to shade... The stuff... ___ Earlier I was drawing something and I wanted to shade some of the yellow teeth but the zoom thing kept moving my draw area around, so I left the teeth area unshaded. (I got a little annoyed)

Blackrose2890, as far as I can tell, if you are zoomed in and want to color a large area, the zoom feature wants to stay centered on your finger on the screen, ie, if you move to one side of the screen, the zoom will automatically try to keep the area you are touching centered on the screen. I don't know if there is a way to turn it off or not. When I am coloring a large area in zoom mode, I color a little at a time, then scroll over before I get too far over and it wants center where my finger is touching the screen. Yikes, I'm horrible at explaining things.

It definitely takes practice to know how much slide room you have before you start to pan. I just focus on a small area and then once I get to the edge of where it wants to pan, I do a three fingered drag to re-center my point of view. I always try to keep available a nice solid colored area that I can fit three fingers on to drag my POV around with... just in case I mistime my tap and leave a little dot where I made contact with the three fingers.
